Diagnostic Work

We have the latest Sun Scanner and software support for a wide range of vehicles enabling us to pinpoint the fault quickly and efficiently. For elusive or intermittent faults we also have Bosch diagnostic equipment with flight record facility. This enables us to take the car on a road test whilst recording ignition pattern or fuel injection signals to be studied back in the workshop.

Wheel Alignment

Benefits of correct wheel alignment include:-

Even tyre wear and therefore tyres last longer

Better fuel economy as there is less drag on wheels all pointing in the direction the manufacturer intended.

Less wear and tear on other steering and suspension components which therefore last longer.

We have invested in 4 wheel laser alignment equipment which enables us to achieve these aims.

On-Car Disc Machining

Does your car suffer from brake vibration ? This usually manifests itself as a judder felt through the brake pedal and sometimes through the steering after braking from high speed. This vibration is more pronounced and indeed can be initiated after hard driving (i.e. at a track day) and then stopping and sitting with your foot on the brake pedal. The discs warp as the portion held by the pads can’t expand or contract at the same rate as the rest of the disc.

The answer is to have the discs renewed or machined true again. Renewal isn’t a problem if the parts are cheap and fitment is easy but on high performance sports or 4 X 4 vehicles this certainly isn’t the case !

This leaves us with machining the discs. If done off the car , this means you still have the labour costs to contend with and because of the way they are mounted in the machine, doesn’t necessarily ensure that the problem will be cured when the discs are refitted to the car.

This clever piece of kit attaches to the vehicle hub and automatically checks hub run-out and then using the built in gyroscope and on-board computer adjusts itself to cut on the same plane as the hub turns. This eliminates judder and braking is restored once more to as new or even better as due to production tolerances which occasionally stack up even some new discs have very slight vibration.

This equipment incidentally is approved by G. M., Chrysler, and Nissan and is mandatory for all 3 star Porsche workshops.

Our staff are able to prep your car which can include anything from a check of tyre pressures, oils and fluid levels or changing brake fluid/pad compounds to complete brake and suspension upgrades or set up including laser 4 wheel alignment and corner weighting to ensure perfect weight distribution and therefore substantially better handling.
